An allergy is the body's way of responding to an unwanted or an undesirable substance, which could be airborne, ingested or caused by the proximity of something. Although allergies by themselves are not necessarily harmful, there are more of an inconvenience that can cause a lot of misery.
It results in the immune system delivering a response or a reaction that causes other symptoms or diseases in people who are predisposed.
Allergies are considered a common assurance and in the UK for example, it has been estimated that one in four people are affected by it at some point in their lives and every year the numbers are said to be increasing by 5% and half of whom are said to be children.
How to heal allergies caused by allergens
Many people are predisposed to many different things that contribute to their allergies and these things are known as allergens. In fact almost anything can be considered an allergen, for example, dust mites, tree pollen, grass, cats, dogs, bee, milk, peanuts and the list goes on.
An allergic reaction to an allergen happens when the body considers that an invading allergen will somehow damage the body whether it is so or not and the body responds by releasing antibodies, also known as IGE to fight the invading allergen.
This response also causes other cells in the body, like the mast cells to release more chemicals, which causes irritation and inflammation and this is what is known as an allergic reaction.
With the advancements in today's science and technology a number of test have been created to determine which allergen might affect a person.
How to heal allergies: test
These tests includes the skin prick test, which is a measurement of the specific IGE that are attached to the cells of the skin during the reaction, this test is known to be affective at detecting allergens that are inhaled or eaten.
There is also the blood test where a very small amount of blood is taken and sent to the lab for testing and the results are usually back in seven to fourteen days. There is also the patch test, which is mostly preformed in cases of Eczema condition.
However, this is not a simple test and mainly hospitals carry out this test, but the Eczema needs to be under control before the test can be carried out. Perhaps the biggest problem with allergies is that they tend to be associated to the genetics of the family and this determines who gets allergies.
For example, twins are said to be 70% more likely to have the same allergies and parents who suffer from allergies are very likely to have children who will have allergies also, although not all allergies are consistent along genealogy lines, for example, a parent might be allergic to peanuts while their children might allergic to milk.
The bottom line is that in order to know how to heal allergies you will need to know more about your allergies by getting tested.
